Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology
Our newly established Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology at the University Medical Center Göttingen stands for a modern, forward-looking combination of research, teaching and clinical relevance. We bring together excellent basic research, innovative anatomical training and digital teaching at the highest level under one roof - and we are continuing to grow.
Our research focuses on the visualization of synapses: We use state-of-the-art imaging techniques such as super-resolution STED microscopy, the specially developed SUSHI technology and innovative optophysiology to investigate the molecular architecture and function of neuronal connections. Our projects combine neurobiology with biophysics, technology development and translational medicine.
At the same time, we are redesigning teaching: with our “Digital Anatomy 2.0” project, we are creating an immersive learning environment that supplements traditional dissection courses with virtual dissection tables, holographic visualizations and VR formats. Our Digital Anatomy Room is unique in terms of its equipment and objectives - a place where students not only learn anatomy, but also experience it.
We are looking for motivated talents at all levels:
- Student assistants
- Technical assistants
- PhD students
- Postdocs
- Anatomy lecturers
- Junior research group leaders
- (Tenure-track) professors
What is important to us: Curiosity, team spirit, creative drive and the joy of breaking new ground - in research as well as in teaching.
